Firefly Burning are a 5-piece ensemble from east
London who create cinematic songs - part art-folk song, part minimalist chamber
music. With eclectic musical tastes and a background in free improvisation their
collaborative songwriting makes impressionistic music described as ‘vital and
Drawing on strings,
guitar, gamelan, bass synthesizer, piano, gongs and voices, their music has
echoes of Beach Boys, Steve Reich and Sufjan Stevens with close vocal harmonies
and intricate rhythms. Firefly Burning released their debut album, ‘Lightships’ in 2011,
capturing their early material on record.
Created through residential periods of writing in Cornwall the album is
heavily influenced by the desolate and beautiful North Cornwall coast.
The band have just completed a bold new album working
with Tim Friese-Greene from seminal band, Talk Talk. The band will be touring these adventurous new songs alongside
releasing the album this year.
